The Lone Woman Revealed

The Portrait of the Lone Woman

is now installed in the Chumash Indian Hall

Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.

We've just unveiled the first historically accurate portrait of the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island in our Chumash Indian Hall. Archaeologist Steve Schwartz, historian Susan Morris, and Museum Curator of Anthropology John Johnson supplied local artist Holli Harmon with first-hand descriptions of the Lone Woman from 1853. Come see this unique and stunning masterpiece on display every day from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM.
